All over the world, lifelong learning is becoming a key issue. The fast development in society and the proliferation of information technology constantly place new requirements on enterprises and their employees. Both the nature and the number of educational offers are constantly expanded. To a great extent, vocational colleges are able to meet all types of educational needs, including short-term training courses as well as actual, entire education and training programmes. Those who have completed higher education as well as those who have left the educational system early in their youth will be able to find relevant offers of supplementary education and training at Danish vocational colleges.
Vocational education and training play an important role in the general development of society, and in enabling and qualifying the individual citizen to participate not only in working life, but also to be an active member of a democratic society. Thus in Denmark, everybody has a lifelong right to learning.
